Yesterday, Project Hyrulecraft went public with it’s minecraft server and the latest version of the alpha map. With the recent success that Hyrulecraft has earned, the team felt the need to clarify a few things with answers to some frequently asked questions. Read past the jump for the entire FAQ.
Whats the story of Hyrulecraft?
-Hyrulecraft takes place between the kid and adult timeline in The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. In particular, 5 years after the kid timeline, so some things may resemble the kid timeline, others may look like the adult timeline.
Why can’t I build things?
-The server is currently in Alpha and just for viewing
Can I be a mod?
-Currently moderators are only members of GenGAME staff, owners of the server, builders, and close friends of GenGAME. Don’t ask to be a mod, just hangout and have a good time. If we need moderators, we’ll contact you in game.
Can I build on the server?
-Currently; no. However in the future we will have some free-build areas where people can build structures, find resources, and mine materials.
Is there a way to apply to be a builder?
-No, not right now. We have a very limited selection process, and we only let a few people build on the server. Please don’t ask us on the server.
Do I need to pay to play here?
-No. It’s free and public right now. In the future, we may offer premium memberships to players that donate which will have more details in the near future.
Is this Adventurecraft?
-Nope, it’s not Adventurecraft. We plan on having other plugins and mods for download that will be custom-made.
Where are the dungeons?
-We don’t have all of them completed yet. Check the Hyrulecraft page at http://www.gengame.net/hyrulecraft for more updates as we add them to the map. And also check out the livestream at http://www.twitch.tv/gengame for our weekly shows.
There are more areas in the game than the original?
-Yes, there are. Our motto is, if you couldn’t see it in the game, then we can add to it. Examples are the Hyrule Castle interior an extension in the Lost Woods, and more planned for the future.
What kind of areas are going to be added? Termina?
-Right now we’re toying with the idea of Termina. Also we’re toying with the idea of using the Nether. In terms of secret areas, we have PVP areas planned, housing areas for players, extra quest spots, parkour-centric zones, and fully fledged dungeons. These ideas may be based off of older Zelda games, and are mainly made by the creativity of the entire team. Mainly Kevin and Benny will make these areas, then tweak them and make them fit into Hyrulecraft.
Oh no I got stuck! What do I do now?
-If you get stuck just by walking around there are a few options. First off, you can warp to certain areas of the game. type ‘/warp’ to look up the areas that you can warp to. Then type ‘/warp (location)’ to go where you would like to warp to.
Example: /warp lake
Takes you to Lake Hylia.
Where’s Jabu Jabu?
-He’s not in the game. Since we’re following the child timeline and that the story takes place 5 years after the child timeline Jabu Jabu is not in the Zora’s Fountain. We do not have suitable textures to build Jabu Jabu as well.
Woah this doesn’t look right at all, can we fix this?
-If you see something that’s wrong or something that you don’t think fits the 1:1 scale of the game then send an email to Benny at BennyG@gengame.net and we’ll look into the fix.
